VACANCIES: 4 researchers for exchange program China/Zambia/Brazil

GenØk is looking for 4 candidates with a background in molecular biology for our FK Norway (Fredskorpset) exchange programs.

GenØk – Centre for Biosafety is looking for 4 candidates with a background in molecular biology for our FK Norway (Fredskorpset) exchange programs with National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) of Zambia, Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences (NIES) of China and The Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. This exchange is an extension of an already existing research program with the two institutions in China and Zambia, and the start of a new program in Brazil.

The positions available are:
- China (1 year)
- Zambia (1 year)
- Zambia (2 years)
- Brazil (1 year from November 2009)

Our project aims to exchange skills and knowledge to ensure safer use of gene technology and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The candidates will participate in research projects related to the environmental and health related consequences of the application of gene technology and GMOs, e.g. perform analyses, develop methodology, instrument calibration and training of personnel.

Qualifications: A relevant Master or PhD, experience from laboratory studies (molecular biology, genetic engineering) with the use of appropriate methods and analyses. Candidate must be between 25 and 35 years old. Candidates for the position in Brazil must be fluent in Portugese or Spanish.
The candidates for China and Zambia are expected to participate in FK Norway’s preparatory course in May and travel to the institutes in June 2009.
