Dr. Montserrat Martin-Armas studied Marine Biology at University of La Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain). Following this, she moved to Norway and completed her PhD in Medical Biology at the University of Tromsø (2007). Her thesis discusses the role of Scavenger Endothelial Cells (SECs) in the immune system.

Her research interest includes comparative immunology and elimination of foreign DNA and proteins in the mammalian systems.
