Research Interests
Fern has research interests in environmental philosophy and ethics, the politics of risk and uncertainty, the governance of emerging technologies (e.g. biotechnology and nanotechnology), and the theory and practice of cross-disciplinary research.

Education
Fern completed a cross-disciplinary PhD (2002-2006) with the Schools of Biological Sciences and Science, Technology and Society at the University of Wollongong in Australia.

She undertook a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science double degree at the Australian National University from 1995-1999 and attained a first class Honours degree in Environmental Politics from the University of Tasmania in 2001.

Current Research Project
“Integrating Ecotoxicology & Ethics for Responsible Ecological Governance: The Case of Nanoparticles for Environmental Remediation”

Funded by the ELSA Programme of the Norwegian Research Council: Start Date 2010.
